Six Cars Burned at Texas Garage, Arson Suspected

The fire at a Central El Paso garage was put out within minutes and investigators were able to determine four cars were severely damaged while two others had minor damages.

Jan. 29--Six cars were set on fire Monday night behind a Central El Paso car garage.

Firefighters responded to the vehicle fire at about 11:34 p.m. on Monday in an alley behind an auto garage at Yandell and Copia, fire department spokesman George De La Torre said.

The fire was put out within minutes and investigators were able to determine four cars were severely damaged while two others had minor damages. The estimated total of damages is $50,000, De La Torre said.

A gas pump meter was also damaged in the fire.

The Fire Marshal's office has determined the fire was set intentionally and they are still investigating the scene, De La Torre said.
