N.C. Motorist Crashes Car Into Emergency Room

A man was charged with DWI, felony speeding to elude and a variety of other charges after he crashed his car into the High Point Regional Hospital emergency room.

HIGH POINT - Police say nobody was injured when a man drove his car into the emergency room of High Point Regional Hospital Sunday morning, causing $75,000 in damage.

Police spotted a car going the wrong way on College Drive at 3:23 a.m., according to a news release from the High Point Police Department. Officers tried to make a traffic stop, but the car fled slowly, then increased speed, still going the wrong way, according to the news release. Police called off the chase at Kivett Drive and Main Street.

The car then went north on North Main Street and headed for the hospital, where it ran into the entrance of the emergency department. Police charged Lynn Christopher Baskins, 27, with DWI, felony speeding to elude, driving while license revoked, careless and reckless driving and hit and run. Baskins is in the Guilford County Jail on $20,000 bond.
