Fifth N.C. Methodist Church Fire Is Under Investigation

Two Methodist church fires in Rockingham County have already been determined to be arson and the third is now under investigation. Two others have occurred in Guilford County.

A fifth Methodist church building caught fire on Wednesday, February 13. The fire was reported to 911 shortly before 8:30 a.m.

Bethany and Monroeton Fire Departments responded to the call at Bethany United Methodist Church on Witty Road and found an outbuilding against the church on fire.

The fire marshals office ruled the previous two fires in the county as arson. The other two fires happened in Guilford County.

The Rockingham County Fire Marshal's Office continues to investigate the fire.
