Pa. Firefighters Rescue Man From Flaming Wreck

A 25-year-old Greenfield Township man was pulled from a burning wreck after he went off the road and became trapped in the flaming vehicle.

GREENFIELD TWP. - A township man was rescued from a flaming car after driving it off an embankment on Route 106 in Greenfield early Tuesday.

Justin Shelp, 25, 194 Spedding Road, was trapped in his car after he drove off the road at 12:38 a.m., Greenfield Volunteer Fire Chief Bruce Evans said.

The chief said Greenfield firefighter Nick Bonczkiewicz and Michael Zeshonski of the Clifford Twp. Volunteer Fire Company were able to pull Mr. Shelp out of the vehicle using a pry bar, saving his life.

Mr. Shelp was treated at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton and released, hospital spokeswoman Wendy Wilson said.
