March 17--Emergency ambulance coverage for Troy and Marine are being handled by their neighbors after a canceled contract.
Ira Burroughs, the owner of Laughlin Ambulance Service, said Friday he no longer provided emergency ambulance service for Troy and Marine.
Laughlin's contracts were canceled on March 1, Burroughs said.
When asked why the contracts were canceled, Burrough answered, "I would rather not say."
Troy Mayor Tom Caraker and Marine Mayor John Deppe could not be reached for comment.
Highland's municipal ambulance service is providing emergency service to Marine.
Maryville's municipal ambulance service is currently providing emergency ambulance service to Troy, according to Maryville firefighter and paramedic Chris Jamruk.
"We currently have two part-time employees and one ambulance stationed at the Troy Fire Department," Jamruk said.
