Detroit Crews Battle Blaze, Consumes Three Homes

Extra personnel and apparatus were summoned to a fire on Detroit's northwest side that consumed three homes.

March 21--No injuries were reported in a fire that engulfed three homes on the city's northwest side this morning, according to the Detroit Fire Department.

Detroit Fire Senior Chief Jack Wiley said crews asked for extra trucks and manpower shortly after the blaze was reported at about 6:45 a.m. at Schoolcraft and Steel. The residential neighborhood is north of I-96 between Wyoming and Meyers.

Crews were still on the scene at 8 a.m., Wiley said. He did not know if the homes were occupied or vacant.
