Ky. Firefighter Accused of Stealing Dept. Equipment

A Harrison County firefighter has been charged with stealing chainsaws, blowers, generators and a water pump from the Berry and Harrison County fire station. Some of the items were recovered at area pawn shops.

A Harrison County Volunteer fireman has been arrested and charged with allegedly stealing nearly $10,000 of equipment.

Anthony Carson, 26, was arrested last Wednesday and has been charged with theft by unlawful taking after he alledgedly took several pieces of equipment from the Berry Fire station.

According to the Harrison County Sheriff’s report, between May 1, 2012, and Jan. 30, 2013, several items have been missing from both the Berry and Harrison County Fire stations.

After an investigation by Harrison County Sheriff’s Deputy Dean Hutchinson, Carson was named the primary suspect in the alleged thefts.

Carson is suspected of taking six chainsaws, two back pack blowers, two generators and a water pump that were taken without permission.

Some of the items have been recovered at various pawn shops across central Kentucky.

Carson was arrested by the Cynthiana Police Department and lodged in Bourbon County Detention Center where he later posted bail.
