April 14, 2013
An Australian firefighter was hurt when he fell from a ladder trying to rescue a koala from a tree that was not eucalyptus.

A firefighter is in hospital under observation after being injured when he fell from a ladder during a koala rescue in Toorak Gardens, in Adelaide's east.

The Metropolitan Fire Service was called by Fauna Rescue just after 8:15am (ACST) this morning.

A spokesperson says it is believed a koala crossed Portrush Road and climbed a tree that was not a eucalyptus tree.

It had to be rescued because there were fears it would cross the busy road again to get to the right tree.

The firefighter fell from a ladder, and was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with cuts and bruises.
