Illinois Firefighter Dies in Car Crash En Route to Fire Call

An Illinois firefighter was killed in a single-car motor vehicle crash Saturday night which happened as he was responding to a fire call.

An Illinois firefighter was killed in a single-car motor vehicle crash Saturday night which happened as he was responding to a fire call.

 Lance Stone, 37, a member of the West Union Fire Department, was ejected from the car he was driving when it left the roadway and rolled over, WTHI reported.


The crash was reported to Clark County Sheriff’s Office at 8:51 p.m. and Stone had been responding to the fire call which was reported at 8:12 p.m. 

Stone, who had been a member of the fire department for several years, was dead when paramedics arrived on the scene.
