April 17--CHESAPEAKE -- Oscar Smith High School has reopened after a bomb threat prompted a roughly one-hour evacuation.
Deputy Fire Chief Dan Fermil said Chesapeake firefighters were called to the school shortly before 3 p.m.
Students waited in the football stadium while the school was searched, school division spokesman Tom Cupitt said. They were allowed back in the building to retrieve belongings and then dismissed for the day about 4 p.m.
Fermil said dogs were brought into the school for a search but no threat was found. Firefighters were clearing from the school at 4:30 p.m.
