A man on the roof of a liquor store in Duluth is accused of throwing two Molotov cocktails to the street below.

May 09--A 21-year-old Duluth man was arrested Tuesday night after he reportedly threw two Molotov cocktails from the roof of the Shanty Bottle Shop to East Fourth Street below.

Police said the act was witnessed by two people about 11 p.m. Reading from a police report, Public Information Officer Jim Hansen said the man told police he was depressed, but that he only threw the incendiary devices when there were no people or traffic below because he didn't want to hurt anyone. He was not drinking.

Police went to the man's house and he consented to a search. A 5-gallon gas can was found and some cut-up rags. He had placed his cell phone and some keys inside the gas can. That material was collected by firefighters.

The man is being held in the St. Louis County Jail on preliminary charges of possessing/manufacturing an incendiary device, discharging an incendiary device, third-degree arson, two counts of disorderly conduct and criminal damage to property for allegedly breaking a vent on the roof.
