May 30--BROOKSVILLE -- A firefighter was arrested at Hernando County Fire Rescue headquarters Thursday, according to Fire Chief Mike Nickerson.

Bradford Kufner, 41, was charged with grand theft, dealing in stolen property and attempting to defraud a pawnbroker.

A press release states that Kufner is accused of stealing a power saw from the department. Kufner, who was hired on as a firefighter in 2004, was terminated from his position. The equipment has been returned to fire rescue.

Kufner is being held on $9,000 bond.

Last month, Kufner spent one day in jail on battery charges before being released on $10,000 bond.

Hernando Today previously reported that the argument started between Kufner and his girlfriend after an afternoon of alleged narcotics use. Kufner's girlfriend told him to get out of the house and threatened him with a knife; Kufner was later seeing punching the woman in the head.

Court records show Kufner was not prosecuted on charges of carrying a concealed weapon in April. In 2008, Kufner was found guilty of a second DUI, and of aggravated battery in 1990.
