S.C. Medic, Firefighter, Civilians Struck at Crash Scene

The North Charleston firefighter remains in the intensive care unit.

A North Charleston firefighter remained hospitalized Monday recovering from injuries suffered when a vehicle slammed into him, a medic and civlians at a crash scene.

The Charleston County EMS medic was released after treatment, according to the Charleston Post and Courier.

The firefighter remains in the intensive care unit.

 The second crash, which injured the responders and bystanders, happened just over 15 minutes later, the paper reported.

Felix Garcia-Romero is charged with three counts of felony driving under the influence as a result of the crash, said Spencer Pryor, spokesman for the North Charleston Police Department.
