Calif. Apt. Fire Displaces 14, Causes $1M Damages

One person was injured and 14 people were displaced in a Clovis fire that caused about $1 million damage.

July 03--Fourteen people were displaced and one person was injured when fire erupted at an apartment complex near Barstow and Minnewawa avenues in Clovis early Wednesday morning.

Clovis Fire Department spokesman Chad Fitzgerald said the blaze was reported at 1:23 a.m. and about 50 firefighters responded to the fire. Clovis firefighters were assisted by Fresno firefighters and Fresno County Fire.

The injury was non-life threatening. Damage was estimated to be $1 million.

The fire spread quickly because the apartments shared a common attic.
