July 17--Three houses were damaged Wednesday afternoon in a fire that spread from one house to two others on White Wood Flat in Masterson Station subdivision.
"When we got here, the crews found heavy smoke through the roof," Battalion Chief Jeff Nantz said.
The house where the fire started is uninhabitable, but the two neighboring houses are livable, Nantz said. No one was injured in the blaze.
Nantz said when the firefighters arrived, the "first attack lines were the two homes -- what we call exposure fire." Then they turned their attention to the house where the fire started and caused the most damage.
Tracy Bright, who lives on the next street, Bay Colony Lane, said she drove past the fire.
"I was driving home and I noticed some smoke," but the fire seemed minimal, she said.
"And then after that, within moments, it was just engulfed -- the roof," she said.
Felicia Walker, 38, lives in one of the damaged houses.
Walker wasn't home at the time, but when a friend saw the first house catch fire, she called Walker.
She said she feels thankful, despite what happened, because "my house was still standing. Everybody was out of the home that was severely damaged."
Fire investigators were trying to determine the cause, Nantz said.
