A discarded cigarette is being blamed for sparking a three-alarm apartment building fire in Manchester on Monday morning.

Flames were lighting the night sky when firefighters responded, according to the Union Leader.

Officials quickly called a second alarm as crews went into the Hilltop Apartment building to make sure everyone was out, the paper reported.

No one was reported injured in the fire that displaced about 60 people.

Early damage estimates are about $1M.
