A Dallas firefighter was knocked unconscious by an upset father Saturday while assisting with a medical call at the man's house.
Michael Barrett, the firefighter, was transported to a local hospital, and is believed to be OK, according to CBSDallas.
The toddler's 24-hour health care nurse, Lisa Decatur, also was assaulted while she was rendering care, police told reporters.
The child, who suffered from an unknown medical condition, was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Police said assault charges are pending against the father.
