Military Practice Bomb Lands in Md. Parking Lot

Aug. 30, 2013
Luckily, no one in the Sudlersville tavern parking lot was injured.

There were no injuries, but a lot of questions Thursday night after a military practice bomb fell in the parking lot of a Maryland bar.

The device fell off a jet, authorities told WBOC reporters.

Witnesses reported that an object fell to the ground in the parking lot of Darlene's Tavern in Sudlersville at approximately 9:20 p.m. Thursday. Firefighters cleared away some debris, determined it to be a military-style bomb and called for the bomb squad from the fire marshal's office.

Technicians identified it as a military practice device. They said it will be turned over to the 175th Wing Air National Guard.

But, investigators have launched a probe as they still want to know how it was dropped.
