A man's body was found in the house.

Sept. 09--Workers arriving to remove brush from a house in Hancock County arrived Monday morning to find a house nearly burned to the ground. Firefighters found a man's body inside, according to the state fire marshal's office.

The two-story house at 1950 Log Cabin Road, is located in a rural area near Sparta. It's not clear what time the blaze started, said Glenn Allen, a spokesman for the state fire marshal's office.

The body has been taken to the GBI's crime lab in Atlanta to determine the identity of the man who died and for an autopsy. The cause of the fire still is undetermined, but investigators don't suspect foul play, Allen said.

If the man's death was caused by the fire, it will be the 89th in Georgia in 2013.
