Sept. 26--BOISE -- Boise police said a man was critically injured Wednesday afternoon after a large pallet of mirrors fell on him at an East Boise warehouse.
Boise police said they were the first to arrive on the scene after workers at U.S. Mirror and Glass at 542 West McGregor Drive called 911 at 3:15 p.m. They tried to uncover the man, who was under a pallet that weighed about 5,000 pounds. He was initially found unconscious and not breathing.
Firefighters and Ada County emergency medical personnel also responded. When they uncovered the man -- a worker at the business estimated to be in his 50s -- he was unresponsive. Firefighters performed CPR, and they were assisted by Ada County responders.
The man was hospitalized with what police described as life-threatening injuries.
The incident appeared to be an accident, police said, but it was under investigation. It's not uncommon in cases of this type for government agencies like OSHA to join the investigation, according to police.
