Nine Milwaukee Firefighters Suspended Amid Probe

A source told a TV crew that the firefighters allegedly upset over transfers damaged equipment.

Nine Milwaukee firefighters have been suspended amid a probe possibly involving damage to fire station equipment.

The suspensions involve firefighters assigned to Engine 32/Ladder 9 who apparently were upset about a possible leadership change in the station and proposed transfers, according to TMJ4.com.

Investigative reporters at the station said they were told by a source "the firefighters took out their frustration on the firehouse by shattering televisions, smashing dishes and soiling firefighting equipment with bodily fluids."

A video shows crews hauling bags of trash as well as bunker gear and boots out of the firehouse. When they spotted the news crew, they took it all back inside.

Fire officials wouldn't confirm the allegations, but did confirm the suspensions.

Fire Chief Mark Rohlfing said in a statement to the station: "Administration has been made aware of certain alleged actions by several of our members that are in contravention to our core values."
