One Dead, Two Critically Injured in Md. Church Fire

The cause of a fire that killed a man and badly hurt two others at an Ocean City Episcopal Church is under investigation.

Nov. 26--A man was killed and two other people were critically injured in a fire in an Ocean City church on Tuesday morning, authorities said.

The fire broke out around 9:25 a.m. in the rectory of St. Paul's By The Sea Episcopal Church at 302 N. Baltimore Ave., Ocean City spokeswoman Jessica Waters said. The fire escalated to a third-alarm but was brought under control quickly, she said.

The identity of the man who was found dead in the building has not been released as officials notify his relatives. Updates were unavailable on the two other injured people, who were taken to a local hospital and Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, respectively. Waters said one of the injured victims was a man and the other a woman.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
