About 30 people were hurt in the crash.

Dec. 01--More than 70 cars and three tractor-trailers crashed in a nasty pile up this morning on Route 290 in Worcester that injured about 30 people.

Icy conditions caused the crashes which began at about 6:45 a.m., according to a statement from the Massachusetts State Police.

Damaged vehicles are being moved from the roadway to two nearby parking lots, according to police.

Roads are currently being treated with sand and salt, according to police.

In a separate incident multiple crashes on the Lowell Connector in the Merrimack Valley also closed that roadway for about 45 minutes, according to the statement.

That roadway has since reopened and the road has been treated.
