Dec. 13--Milwaukee firefighters rescued a person in a wheelchair from a house fire on the city's north side Friday morning.

The fire began on the building's second floor just after 10:30 a.m. at the duplex in the 6000 block of N. 37th St. The person using the wheelchair was trapped on the first floor and was taken to a paramedic unit to stay warm, fire officials said.

Firefighters are still investigating the cause of the fire, and a damage estimate was not available late Friday morning. The Red Cross also is assisting.
