Investigators are trying to determine what caused the smoke at the baseball stadium Monday.

Dec. 16--Emergency vehicles sped to the Astrodome Monday morning after a report of a fire at the legendary sports stadium in southwest Houston.

The incident began about 9:20 a.m. at the iconic facility along Kirby near Westridge, according to the Houston Fire Department.

Officials said firefighters had trouble locating the reported blaze. They later determined no flames had erupted and only smoke rose into the air inside the venerable domed sports venue.

Investigators are trying to determine what caused the smoke, but thought it may have emanated from a belt on equipment in an equipment room.

No injuries were reported and the building was not evacuated.
