Jan. 17--An intoxicated Roseville man is expected to be arraigned Monday after he pointed a gun at paramedics called to his home to help him, Roseville police said today.

Paramedics were called to the 30000 block of Sandhurst to help the 50-year-old, who fell.

They found the apartment door closed. No one answered after repeated attempts to make contact with the man. Paramedics found the front door unlocked and after announcing their presence, entered the unit, police said.

The paramedics were confronted by the man, who pointed a .25-caliber handgun at them, police said. They tried to talk with him, but eventually backed away from the home and called police.

Officers made contact with the man, who was uncooperative. They got him to put the gun down. But, he refused other attempts to cooperate and officers had to subdue him to take him into custody, police said.

The man originally called his sister saying he had fallen and needed help. She called for the paramedics and told her brother she had done so.

Police said the man had a scrape on his shin as a result of his fall and thought he was hurt worse because of his intoxication. He refused to say why he pointed the gun at the paramedics, police said.

The man, who police did not name, is being held at the Roseville Police Department and is expected to be charged with felonious assault and firearm offenses, police said.
