Former Texas Firefighter Gets Probation for Theft

The former Kyle battalion cheif stole more than $8,000 from a training fund.

Feb. 21--A former Kyle firefighter and battalion chief was sentenced to four years probation on Thursday for stealing thousands of dollars from taxpayers.

Richard Craig Kolls, Jr., 39, was arrested last year and accused of stealing $3,800 from the department's training programs. An investigation by the Texas Rangers later determined Kolls had pocketed more than $8,000, said prosecutor Ben Moore.
