Worker Killed in Fall Down Elevator Shaft in Kentucky

The patient is four stories down.

Editor's Note -- Authorities have confirmed the worker died after the four-story fall. 

Kentucky rescue teams are currently trying to free a person who toppled into an elevator shaft at a cement plant.

"It sounds like from what they've been doing, it's going to be a high-angle, confined-space rescue so we're going to be here a little bit until we get him out," Pleasure Ridge Park Battalion Chief Brian Morgan told WLKY.

The person is at least four stories down.

Technical rescue teams have set up appropriate equipment in the area.

A medical helicopter landed in the 15300 block of Dixie Highway, but lifted off without a patient.
