An electrical malfunction may be blamed.

April 11--Firefighters fought a fire Thursday morning at the state Department of Natural Resources ranger station, 550 Industrial Drive, Augusta.

The fire started in the attic of the 12-year-old building and caused about $30,000 worth of damage, Augusta fire Chief Ken Zich said.

Nobody was injured in the fire, Zich said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but Zich said it could be linked to an electrical malfunction.

Augusta-Bridge Creek Fire Department was assisted by the Fall Creek Fire Department.
