April 21--HANAHAN, S.C. -- A 72-year-old man has died after a tree fell onto his house and pinned him in, according to Hanahan Police.

William Carl Klein was sitting in a chair in his upstairs den when the tree fell and pinned him in.

A 911 dispatcher received a call around midnight on April 21 advising that a large tree fell on a house at 5 Leone Court in the Otranto community of Hanahan, according to the Hanahan Police Department.

"The fire department was able to remove Klein from the house," Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury said. "He was transported to a local hospital where he died from injuries received from the accident."

Police say the backyard tree fell because of the recent heavy rain fall.

The death has been ruled as accidental.
