April 23--POULSBO -- Two Poulsbo firefighters have completed SWAT training, the first firefighters in Kitsap County to do so.

Travis Beach and Bruce Lowrie have been trained to provide emergency medical services to SWAT team members and injured residents during "high-risk tactical response incidents," such as active shooter situations, according to Jody Matson, Poulsbo Fire spokesperson.

Typically, police officers must first contain a threat before EMS can respond to an event, but SWAT training would change that.

Cody Baker with South Kitsap Fire and Rescue is currently in SWAT training.
