Ohio Residents Charged With Arson, Murder in Blaze

Two people were killed in the Fostoria fire this weekend.

May 26--FOSTORIA, Ohio -- Three people were charged and arrested today with having some part in setting a fire that killed two and injured another.

Charged and held in the Fostoria jail are:

--Shey Weiker, 31, of 151 Taft Blvd., Fostoria, charged with four counts of aggravated arson, two counts aggravated murder, and one count each of aggravated murder and tampering with evidence;

--Charles Schaeffer, 44, of the Taft address, charged with four counts complicity to commit aggravated arson, two counts complicity to commit aggravated murder, and one count of complicity to committed attempted aggravated murder;

--Timothy Hall, 20, 126 Findlay St., Fostoria, charged with four counts complicity to commit aggravated arson, two counts complicity to commit aggravated murder, and one count each of complicity to commit attempted aggravated murder and complicity to tampering with evidence

According to a news release from the Fostoria Police Department, the city's police and fire departments, with the State Fire Marshal's Office, and the Seneca County Prosecutor's Office, ruled the fire at 614 Poplar St. an arson. The fire was reported at 3:05 a.m. Officials said the fire started at the front of the home. A motive was not given.

Those killed in the fire have not been identified pending family notifications and confirmation by the Seneca County Coroner's Office. The injured person was taken by helicopter to a Toledo hospital for treatment. That victim's name has not been released. One firefighter, whose name was not provided, was injured after falling through stairs inside the home; he was treated and has since gone back to work, officials said.
