June 14--Fire crews battled a fire for three hours that tore through an Estacada store and bar, causing significant damage to a building believed to be about 100 years old.

Estacada Rural Fire District crews were dispatched to 28424 SE Eagle Creek Road, shortly after midnight after a neighbor smelled smoke and saw the fire coming from Baileys Pub and Grub and the Currinsville Store, the fire district said in a news release. As crews arrived, they saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the building, the release states.

They soon went to a third-alarm, calling for additional resources to fight the blaze, the district said. Crews from Boring, Sandy, Colton and Clackamas Fire District 1 all assisted, the district said.

Due to the severity of the fire, crews had to take a defensive approach and fight the fire from the outside of the building, the release states. It took the crews nearly three hours to bring the fire under control.

No one was injured in the fire. Investigators are trying to determine the cause and extent of damage, said Tammy Owen, spokeswoman for the Estacada Rural Fire District.

Although the pub is believed to have opened recently, neighbors were remarking about having frequented the store, Owen said. The building itself dates back about 100 years, she said.

"Naturally, it's a landmark in the community," she said.
