July 26--A 15-year-old is recovering from injuries sustained during a fire prank Friday.

Lexington police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said officers were called to the 3600 block of Appian Way to assist the city's fire department for a teenager who had burned himself.

Fire department Battalion Chief Joe Best said the teenager, whose name was not given, was participating in a "Fire Challenge," which has become popular online. The prank involves pouring a flammable liquid, usually rubbing alcohol, on your body and setting yourself on fire. The teenager saw the prank on YouTube.

The teenager suffered second-degree burns, Roberts said. A special injury report was given to the Kentucky Cabinet of Children and Family Services, which will determine whether charges will be filed, she said.
