July 27--RANCHO CUCAMONGA -- A tour bus caught on fire Saturday evening on the 210 Freeway near Day Creek Boulevard, but no one was injured, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The westbound bus, which was carrying an unknown number of passengers, pulled over to the right shoulder of the freeway and the bus driver helped people get off the bus in an orderly manner, according to the CHP.

It was the third time the bus driver had pulled over because of smoke since leaving a casino in Twentynine Palms and heading back to Los Angeles, the CHP said.

This time the smoke didn't stop and the driver noticed the bus was on fire. The driver was the last person to leave the bus, the CHP said.

The bus company sent another bus to pick up the passengers.

Lanes 3 and 4 and the Day Creek off-ramp were closed due to hindered visibility from the smoke and large debris on the road, according to CHP logs.

The incident was reported around 7 p.m. and backed up traffic for at least a mile.
