Three Children Hurt in Brooklyn Apartment Fire

July 29, 2014
Firefighters had to cut through a window grate to rescue two.

Three young children were injured, one of them critically, when flames erupted in their fourth-floor Brooklyn apartment Tuesday morning.

A toddler, who was found in one bedroom, was in critical condition, 1010Wins reported.

Firefighters had to cut through a window grate to rescue two other children, five and eight. They were in serious condition, the station reported.

Fire officials told the media it appears the children were related and that they were being watched by their grandfather. He got out of the apartment himself and was taken to the hospital along with a neighbor who was being treated for smoke inhalation.

The cause is under investigation.
