California Garden Highway in South Natomas Closed by Wildland Fire

Aug. 31--A portion of the Garden Highway in South Natomas has reopened after firefighters battled a blaze on the American River Parkway near Northgate Boulevard in Sacramento.

The highway was closed between Northgate Boulevard and Truxel Road for about two hours as firefighters worked to contain a 1 1/2-acre fire that burned thick brush and trees, according to the Sacramento Fire Department.
