Aug. 31--Firefighters rescued a teenager who became stuck in muddy marsh between Harbor Island and Hunting Island on Saturday afternoon.

The Lady's Island-St. Helena Fire District received a call just after 5 p.m. that a young male had been swimming through a creek and could not get back to the beach, spokesman Scott Harris said. He had also cut his foot on oyster shells, Harris said.

Firefighter Keith Kersey retrieved the teenager with a jet ski. He was transported from Hunting Island by ambulance to a local hospital, Harris said.

Further details were not available Saturday night.
