Sept. 29, 2014
Two girls escaped through a window after seeing the fire.

A house fire in Missouri has claimed an infant and a babysitter.

A neighbor told KMBC reporters she was awaken Monday morning by a 10-year-old girl and a 6-year-old girl saying that they needed to use the phone to call their mother at work because their house was on fire.

They told her they saw fire under their door, so they escaped from their second-floor window.

The girls' father was injured as he tried to extinguish the fire using a garden hose.

The identities and ages of the victims have not been released as the probe continues in Grandview.
