Pa. Firefighter Dies After Being Alerted to Fire

Christi Rodgers, 26, suffered a cardiac arrest when after being paged out to a fire.

A 26-year-old firefighter died Friday morning after being paged out for a house fire.

Robert Fulton Fire Company Assistant Chief Dan Appel told LancasterOnline.com that Christi Rodgers was stricken by a cardiac arrest.

Rodgers was taken to the hospital and prounounced dead.

She had served with the Rawlinsville and Robert Fulton Fire companies over the last 10 years.

"(She was) always very bubbly, very happy, loved her jobs, loved her new baby and loved being married," Appel said. "She was loved by everybody."

Rodgers and her husband, James Rodgers Jr., recently had a baby. Her husband was also a volunteer firefighter.

The fire was reported around 5 a.m. and destroyed the two-story dwelling. 

Firefighters from four counties in Maryland and Pennsylvania responded to the scene.
