New York Firefighter, 84, Dies in The Line of Duty

A member of the Sanborn (N.Y.) Fire Department with 53 years of service, died after becoming ill at mandatory department training on Thursday.

A member of the Sanborn (N.Y.) Fire Department with 53 years of service, died after becoming ill at mandatory department training on Thursday.

According to the United State Fire Administration (USFA) Donald “Pete” Martin, 84, became ill after reporting to the fire station.

Other members of the department took Martin home and then called 911 for assistance after he went unresponsive.

He died from a nature and cause of injury still to be determined.
