Dec. 01--Investigators are trying to determine the cause of a mobile home fire Monday morning in rural southern Parker County that claimed the lives of a young mother and her 3-year-old son.

Spring Creek volunteer firefighters responding to a neighbor's 911 call shortly before 9 a.m. found the residence in the 200 block of Paula Court fully engulfed in flames and the woman's husband trying to get inside.

"He was distraught and trying to get in and was being restrained by some neighbors and some firefighters because they couldn't let him run in with the house on fire," Parker County spokesman Joel Kertok said.

Firefighters later found the bodies of the woman, believed to be 26, and her son lying on the bed in the master bedroom.

They had not been positively identified Monday afternoon.

Kertok said the husband was at work when he learned of the fire and rushed home. Kertok said the home had mutliple space heaters inside but it was unknown Monday whether they might have sparked the fire.

The blaze occurred just down the road and on the same property as another fatal house fire in August. Both homes were in the Lake Country Acres community.

Clyde Lucas, 76, who lived alone and used a motorized wheelchair, died Aug. 10 after a fire broke out in his mobile home.

The Tarrant County medical examiner's office ruled that Lucas died of smoke and carbon monoxide inhalation. The manner of death was listed as undetermined.

Kertok said a cause of the August fire could not be determined because of the extensive damage.

He said that though there is no evidence to suggest that Monday's fire was intentionally set, Tarrant County's Arson Task Force is assisting in the investigation because of the two fatalities and nearness to the other fatal fire.

"They just want to take due diligence and make sure that they investigate every possibility," he said.
