'Inattentive' Driver Hits N.Y. Fire Police Officer's Vehicle

Dec. 15, 2014
Rombout fire units were operating at a two-vehicle accident when another drive hit the responder's vehicle.

A fire police officer suffered minor injuries after his vehicle was rear-ended at an accident scene in Fishkill.

Rombout Fire Company units responded to an accident at Routes 52 and 82 around 5:45 p.m., fire PIO Kevin Barry told the Poughkeepsie Journal.

An "inattentive motorist" rear-ended the fire police officer as he was arriving at the scene. Barry said the driver was not "paying attention."

He was transported to MidHudson Regional Medical Center for evaluation, but Barry said he was not seriously injured.

Three victims from the original crash were taken to the hospital for treatment.
