Four men jumped the second floor to escape a fire in a Lebanon, Ind., apartment and then helped people get out of the building that was quickly becoming engulfed in fire. One man was killed in the blaze.

Four men jumped the second floor to escape a fire in a Lebanon, Ind., apartment and then helped people get out of the building that was quickly becoming engulfed in fire. One man was killed in the blaze.

According to Fox59, a local television station, two men were in an upstairs apartment playing video games when the smelled smoke. Soon, smoke filled the apartment and they realized the building was on fire.

They were confronted with black smoke at the door, woke up two friends who were sleeping and all four jumped from a window of the Bredanwood Apartments on Roselawn Drive to an awning and to the ground, the television station reported.

The men then helped people from windows and rescued others, the station reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but a Christmas tree too close to a heater is suspected, according to the station.
