Md. Fire Blamed on Candles Sends Four to Hospital

Dec. 25, 2014

Unattended candles are suspected of starting a fire that sent four people to the hospital early Wednesday with smoke inhalation, Baltimore County fire officials said.

The one-alarm fire was reported at 2:26 a.m. at a home in the 3400 block of McShane Way in Dundalk. Firefighters arriving on the scene found a 73-year-old woman out front and light smoke inside the home. County fire officials said four people were transported to Bayview Medical Center, three were treated for smoke inhalation and released.

The 73-year-old remains admitted, fire officials said, and was listed early Wednesday in critical but stable condition.

Fire crews gained control of the fire by 3:02 a.m. No firefighters were injured.
