Pilot Killed in Okla. Medevac Crash

March 13, 2015
EagleMed Pilot Matt Mathews died while a medic and a nurse were injured.

The helicopter pilot who died in a Thursday night crash near Eufaula is identified as Matt Mathews.

The EagleMed helicopter Mathews was flying went down in a wooded area seven miles west of Stidham, near the Canadian River, at 11:24 p.m. Three crew members were on board — Mathews perished while two crew members, Nurse Kim Ramsey and Paramedic Ryan Setzkorn, survived.

Kandra Wells, spokeswoman for McAlester Regional Health Center, said two survivors from the crash were hospitalized at MRHC. One was treated and released while another was transported to a medical facility in Tulsa.

Wells would not identify the patients by name or gender.

The News-Capital has confirmed, however, that Setzkorn was the individual treated and released while Ramsey was taken to Tulsa.

The EagleMed helicopter was on a return flight from Tulsa to McAlester after lifeflighting a 13-year-old boy injured in a pedestrian-vehicle accident Thursday night in McAlester.
