Roof Collapses During Texas Hotel Fire

Residents of the Hampton Inn hotel in Seabrook escaped before flames engulfed the structure.

No injuries were reported after a multiple alarm fire swept through a Searbook hotel Thursday afternoon.

Units were called to the Hampton Inn on NASA Road One for for the smell of gas, the mayor told television station KTRK.

The TV station reported that firefighters were working on the roof and shortly after they exited, the roof collapsed.

Airhorns were sounded, signaling firefighters to retreat for a defensive attack. 

Three hours later, firefighters were still tackling the blaze.

The mayor said 20 percent of the guests were in the hotel at the time and they safety escaped.
