Ohio Firefighter Stricken at Scene, Dies

An Ohio firefighter who collapsed at a fire scene last month has died.

Williamsburg Township Lt. David Knapke, 55, suffered a massive heart attack May 30 at a house fire in Mt. Orab. 

He was resuscitated at the scene and flown to Cincinnati Medical Center. Doctors could not find blockages or a cause for the cardiac arrest.

Knapke was later transferred to a hospice center where he died June 5.

His family has been involved in the fire service for generations.

Funeral services are pending.
