N.J. Firefighter Dies After Response

A N.J. firefighter died last week several hours after responding to an alarm.

Paramus Firefighter Shawn M. Benson, 50, died Sept. 23.

The former chief was found unresponsive at home hours after he responding to an alarm at a local restaurant.

He was transported to a local hospital, and pronounced dead.

To date, 65 firefighters have died on duty, the USFA reported.
