Amtrak Derails in Vermont

There are reports of injuries in the incident near Northfield.

An Amtrak train has derailed in Vermont. and there are reports of injuries.

Details of the incident in Northfield are emerging. However, several cars of  the D.C.-bound train jumped the tracks.

Montpelier Fire Department officials told reporters they had at least four people injured so far. There have been no reported deaths,  Lt. Dana Huoppi, the spokesman said.

Initial reports from the scene indicated that five cars derailed, and two tumbled down an embankment.

Boulders on the rails may have caused the train to jump the tracks.
